The Tiger Hap Cichlid (Protomelas fenestratus) is one of Lake Malawi’s most stunning and dynamic species. Known for its tiger-like vertical stripes, metallic blue head, and shimmering silver-gold body, this fish brings unmistakable drama and color to any African cichlid aquarium.

Tiger Haps are active swimmers and dominant display fish, making them a perfect centerpiece for larger Malawi setups. Males display striking iridescent blue hues as they mature, especially during breeding season.
