The Placidochromis phenochilus “Lupingu”, also known as the Star Sapphire Hap, is one of the most breathtaking species from Lake Malawi, Africa. Famous for its deep blue body adorned with glittering, star-like white spots, this cichlid brings elegance and color to any freshwater setup.
Native to the Lupingu region of Lake Malawi, this strain is prized for its intense coloration and peaceful temperament, making it an excellent choice for both display tanks and community cichlid setups.
Males develop their brilliant blue “galaxy” pattern as they mature—each fish displaying a unique constellation of iridescent spots.
